Congress has approved an extension of the June 30 closing deadline for the federal homebuyer tax credit.  Buyers who were under contract as of April 30 will now have until September to close their purchase and retain eligibility for the credit.

PCBR will be holding this Yard Sale to raise funds to benefit local charities: Pickens Animal Rescue, the Joy House and the Good SamaritanCenter. Donations are now being accepted including clothing, shoes, knick-knacks, miscellaneous items, books, VHS tapes and DVDs. Many volunteers will be needed the morning of the sale to move items to the school, to assist with the setup and to work the sale. The materials convey that REALTORS® are part of the fabric of communities across the country and emphasize the value REALTORS® bring to buyers, sellers and investors. Television, radio, print and online advertising continues as part of the expanded media buy that began in November 2009.

This June, REALTORS® scored two very important political victories when Congress extended the closing deadline for the federal Homebuyer Tax Credit and reauthorized the National Flood Insurance Program. President Obama signed both bills into law this morning. Had our allies in Congress failed to act, NAR estimates over 6,200 real estate transactions in Georgia could have been jeopardized.

The Pickens County Board will be hosting a FREE CE class on Wednesday, August 11th at Chattahoochee Tech (Appalachian Campus). "Guilty or Innocent - You Decide: Real Georgia Cases" will be presented by the Georgia Association of REALTORS®.
